Without a Trace: The Disappearance of Flight 370

How does a 777 Jetliner just vanish into thin air during flight?  And without a trace!  Of course I’m referring to Malaysian Flight 370 that mysteriously disappeared 3 days ago along with its more than 200 passengers.  Oil slicks on the ocean waters and other items have been determined not to be from the jetliner.  The last radar images seemed to indicate the jetliner was turning around although the pilot failed to advise air traffic controllers.  Two passengers apparently were using stolen passports and they are being investigated for possible ties to terrorist organizations.  Meanwhile, the families, friends, and coworkers of those aboard are left to wonder what happened and what was the final fate of their loved ones.

The search area was expanded today and at least 10 nations are involved in the search.  Three Americans were on board.  They include an employee of IBM from Texas and two children ages 4 and 2.  The children were not with the IBM employee but at this point officials do not know who they were with.  As the days pass hope dwindles for any survivors and speculation now runs amok as to what happened.  Was the plane blown up in midair?  Was there some catastrophic mechanical failure that sent the plane plunging into the depths of the ocean?  Was the plane hijacked and landed in some far off place?  Did it encounter a UFO or a time warp vortex?  Like I said, the speculation is now running amok.

Whatever happened to the plane may not be known for a long while, sadly.  Someday the remains may be found but for how long no one knows.  Our thoughts and prayers go with the families, friends, and coworkers of the passengers.  This is a horrible thing compounded by finding NOTHING.  One thing is for certain, however, and that is a plane as big as a Boeing 777 just doesn’t disappear into thin air.
