Spain: Thousands Gather in Hopes of Movie Jobs!

Thousands of unemployed Spaniards converged on the impoverished region of Andalusia in the south of Spain in hopes of landing an acting extras role in an upcoming movie “Exodus.”  They would be playing the role of Egyptian slaves.  Unemployment in the region has already topped 35% and people are desperate for jobs, any jobs.  The daily pay would be about $107 or 80 Euros.  Almeria is the site of the casting call for the film being produced by Ridley Scott and entitled “Exodus.”  The story centers around Moses and the Exodus of the Israelites from ancient Egypt.

The unemployment rate in the region is nothing short of astounding.  Austerity is Spain is resulting in mass poverty and unemployment.  It is very sad to see such a once proud nation brought to its knees, literally.  Mighty empires of the past could not defeat Spain but the bankster robber barons have.
