Is America Becoming a Fascist State?

banana1Although I’ve tried to give him the benefit of the doubt for a long while now there are some recent comments by President Barack Obama that raise concern.  In his State of the Union address he basically told Congress that he was going to do whatever he wanted to do with or without them via executive orders.  Then just a few days ago he was somewhere and made a comment about how he could do whatever he wanted because he’s POTUS.  These comments along with others he’s made over the years raise concern and it just isn’t his comments but it’s also some of his actions too.

President Obama seems to think that Presidential Executive Orders are Imperial Edicts.  That is, that he can use them to make law or nullify law at his pleasure.  He’s done this with Obamacare recently by delaying the employer mandate a few times now and clearly violating the Affordable Health Care Act provisions.  One cannot help but wonder just what is this El Presidente thinking?  Does Obama think he’s running some sort of Banana Republic?  Does he envision himself as some sort of tin pot dictator ruling over a weak and ignorant people?  Frankly, I’m beginning to wonder if this El Presidente is suffering from some sort of break with reality.

My point is this.  Why does President Obama seem to have no regard for the democratic processes that are SUPPOSE to be well established in this country?  Why does he blatantly ignore the Constitution, thumb his nose at Congress, and act as though the Bill of Rights is now null and void?  But that’s not the only problem.  The other side of the problem is Congress!  Congress seems inept as if someone has neutered it or something.  Why is this Congress afraid to stand up to Barack Obama when he is clearly violating our democratic principles and laws?  Personally I never did like Speaker John Boehner as I think he’s all talk and no action and I think he’s a weak leader and has a drinking problem.  He’s not the sort of man or leader I can envision standing up to someone like Obama and his power grab.

Obama’s approval ratings have tanked to all time lows.  That’s surprising considering that when he was first elected back in 2008 he had very high ratings.  It seems the vacation and love affair with Obama is over as more and more people become disillusioned with him and his bad habit of not exactly being truthful.  I had high hopes for him at one time but those high hopes were soon dashed against the wall when I kept hearing double-speak from him and outright lying to the American people.  That told me this man was NOT going to deliver whatever he promised.  It told me that this man could NOT be trusted ans should not be trusted.  He pretended he was all for the common people on Main Street but then I saw him more and more with the tycoons on Wall Street playing buddy-buddy and, again, that told me that this El Presidente was not what he was attempting to pretend to be.

Obamacare was a good start but I think Obama and Congress passed it into law too soon.  They should have taken more time to work out some of the finer details but they didn’t and Obamacare has been one disaster after another.  I personally think it is now a failure and America could have done better.  Not only that but I think America deserves better!

I have advocated for a single payer system when it comes to healthcare.  My thinking was that Medicare should have been extended to everyone.  Yes it’s that old boggy man called “socialized medicine” that I support.  Medicare could have been tweaked a bit or maybe a lot and I think it would have turned out better than Obamacare is doing.  Of course the health insurance companies would have been screaming but so what.  They now make bigger profits than the oil companies and medicine has become just one more racket in America of the rich and powerful preying off of the poor and powerless!  I think those companies should be put out of business as I think they exploit the American people for corporate profit.

As Obama’s tenure in office has continued I’ve seen something very disturbing.  That is, the emergence of a Fascist Corporatism in which the state is used to do the bidding of the corporation.  I’ve seen the Military-Industrial Complex that President Eisenhower warned us off grow without bounds and transform itself into the Military-Banking Complex which is even more dangerous IMO.  Perpetual war seems to be the call of the day since 9/11.  How much more war can we stomach?  This perpetual so-called “war on terrorism” has bankrupted this nation already and it’s time for it to draw to an end.  I don’t see where this war has done much good frankly.  Look at the present situation in Iraq.  It’s disastrous!  Iraq was supposed to be a shining beacon of freedom and democracy once the US forces pulled out but that hasn’t happened and I don’t think it’s going to happen.  Iraq is currently in a state of absolute disaster as factions battle against factions with deadly results.  When it comes to Afghanistan I expect the same once US forces pull out of there.  The Taliban is just buying its time because they already know that once the US pulls out the Taliban is going to regain control of that country.  Mark my words mi amigos!  It’s going to happen and the writing is on the wall.

There’s something fundamentally wrong in and with America today IMO.  That’s the conclusion I’ve been driven to especially lately.  Oppression by various means seems to be growing in a country that is SUPPOSE to be a democracy.  So why is this country acting more and more Fascist with each passing day?  Fascism, I believe, is far more dangerous than any other political ideology in human history.  Fascism  benefits the few, the elites, at the expense of the many in ways that often bring about deadly consequences, intentional or not.  corporatist love Fascism because it benefits them and pads their bank accounts.  But for the common folk Fascism is always disastrous.

Some people seem to have given up on America claiming that Americans just don’t care anymore and that we are weak and defeated.  I don’t agree.  I think the patience of the average American has been mistaken for lethargy or unconcern among the masses.  Americans have a history of rising up when they’ve had enough.  Our people have great patience but our people will NOT be patient forever nor when faced with gross tyranny and oppression.  Americans are born with a will to fight and to endure because Americans are survivors not victims.  I think things in this country will soon come to a head and America’s patience will expire.  I think the Fascist corporatist know this and they are preparing for it.  I hate to say it but I think our country is about to face some huge turmoil and upsets in the near future that most of us would rather not see.  The gaps between rich and poor are growing into chasm and the gaps between the powerful and powerless are quickly becoming a great abyss.  We are walking a thin line in this country that hasn’t been walked since the Civil War and, personally, civil war is the LAST thing I want to see happen.

One thing that really gets me about President Obama is he keeps talking about redistribution of income and the growing gap between rich and poor but it’s just all talk.  He’s paying us lip service and nothing more.  The rich are getting richer in this country under Obama and the poor are getting poorer under his reign.  The middle class is being wiped out and the common American down on Main Street is being demoralized in ways that cannot even be imagined.  More and more families are struggling just trying to make ends meet and living paycheck to paycheck today is not even working anymore as there are more American families on food stamps and government assistance today than ever before.  Take those Americans off of public assistance and they’ll end up in the streets and in complete disaster such as the world has never seen.  These are NOT people trying to suck the system!  They are people who have been thrown out of jobs and out of their homes.  They are people who cannot find jobs to support their families even though they are looking and want one.  These are descent people who once held good jobs and had a future but that’s all been wiped out now as they have become victims of the growing Fascist Corporatism in this country.

Two things are going to happen in this nation very soon.  Either we are going to slide into disaster and a second civil war OR this nation is going to wise up and elect a strong and intelligent leader who has the ability to lead us out of the mess we are in and back to common sense and our democratic processes.  I’m hoping for the later as the former would rip this nation apart in ways that most of us couldn’t even imagine.  Democracy needs to be restored and it’s not going to happen under Barack Obama or the current Congress we have.  We need a strong leader who is fully dedicated to democratic principles and who comes with a huge dose of just plain old common sense.  Frankly, I don’t see such a person on the political scene today so what’s going to happen?

I don’t know about you but I do NOT want to live under tin pot dictators.  I don’t want to live in a Republica Bananera.  And I sure as hell don’t want to live under Fascism!  The more I think about it the more I think that it isn’t going to be some powerful leader that is going to save this democracy.  It’s going to be the average man and woman living down on Main Street.  It’s going to be We The People who turn this country around and BACK to our historical democratic principles and way of life.  I think this is the conclusion the Fascist corporatist have come to and, frankly, I think it scares the hell out of them.  And I hope it does because be it a banana republic, tin pot dictatorship, or Fascism these regimes are all the same.  They are all regimes of tyranny!  And, IMO, tyranny should never ever be allowed to rule anywhere period.
