So President Trump’s daughter Ivanka has decided that she’ll be taking up a new role as a government employee, unpaid, and in the role of “adviser.” That’s pretty much what her husband has done as well and it now appears Trump has surrounded himself with family and close friends as advisers. A bit of a “royal dynasty” you might say.
The thing that bothers me about this is that America is not a kingdom nor is the President a King yet what is being set up by Trump is beginning to appear that way. Washington DC is a snake pit to say the least and I highly doubt Trump is going to “drain the swamp” to any significant degree. The problem is that these “swamp people” (read government employees and politicians) are well entrenched and have been for years and they are not going to just go away easily nor without a fight. What they are hoping for is a good dose of American outrage….think Soviet Cold War days. But the Soviet Union no longer exists and this is not the days of the Cold War. But, you’ve got to give the “swamp people” credit as they keep pushing the “Russian connection” even though it doesn’t exist. Fake news? LOL whatever!
Don’t get me wrong. There ARE some good, descent, and honest people in government but they are few, frankly. Trump should be tapping these people as they have experience and would be solid advisers. And, besides, they know well the tricks of DC and might be able to help Trump avoid many pitfalls ahead. But, Trump I think has deemed any and all in government corrupt and part of the “swamp people” and THAT may be his undoing in the end. Continue Reading
