Arizona Law Before Supreme Court; LA Mayor Speaks Out

Arizona’s infamous immigration law commonly known as SB1070 is now before the US Supreme Court awaiting adjudication.  Arguments were heard earlier this week by attorneys presenting their cases for and against the law.  The Arizona law has been a hot issue since its passage.  It authorizes police to check the immigration status of anyone they stop for any reason and arrest them for being in the country illegally if they are found to be so.  The US Justice Dept argues that the law is an attempt by Arizona to do the job of US Border Patrol.  Arizona says it’s just trying to enforce the immigration laws that federal officials won’t enforce.  So the law is now in the Supreme Court awaiting a decision by the court on its constitutionality and amid all the controversy LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa today published a commentary on the issue which you can read for yourself at the below source.

The mayor begins his commentary by noting that the “American experience is an immigrant experience.”  It certainly is as our nation is a nation of primarily immigrants with the only native citizens being Native Americans.  As the mayor points out immigrants have come to this country since its founding searching for freedom and opportunity.

Mayor Villaraigosa points out that the Arizona law along with other similar laws passed in the states of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Utah are well outside the mainstream of immigration politics because they are essentially “self-deportation” laws and policies.  The mayor says what such policies and laws mean is “making life so miserable” for illegal migrants that they leave by their own choice and free will.  He notes that such policies use fear and the “threat of force” to remove them from the US and “hound them out of the country.”  The mayor calls such policies and laws unrealistic, “unwise and cruel.”  He states that there is not one single problem our nation faces today by which deporting millions of illegal immigrants is going to solve any of the problems we face.  He notes that such state laws usually fail and they don’t reduce illegal immigration but only result in migrants moving to other states without such laws and “further into the shadows.”

The mayor calls laws such as Arizona’s SB1070 “show me your papers laws.”  Sounds like something leftover from Nazi Germany or the old Soviet Union in which citizens and visitors alike had to show their identification papers upon demand of the Gestapo or secret Soviet Police.  The mayor says these laws undermine the civil rights of millions of Americans who have lived and worked in the US for decades now.  Further, he points out that such laws abandon the very foundations of our legal system of “innocent until proven guilty.”  Sadly that seems to be the going trend today across the board and not only with illegal migrants.  More and more it seems this historical and traditional value of Americana is being replaced by an attitude of “guilty until proven innocent.”  That’s the same attitude held in any Bananera Republica worth its la sal (salt).  In Banana Republic dictatorships everyone is assumed to be automatically guilty of whatever they are accused of and when (or IF) they are lucky enough to get a trial they must prove their innocence. That’s a far cry from what has historically been America as in this country the burden of proof of guilt has been on the prosecution not the accused.  So with this seemingly new and growing attitude of “guilty until proven innocent” does that signify that we now live in Bananera Republica called America? Child Missing! Police Have Few Clues!!

TUCSON, ARIZONA—Last Friday night (April 20) a family took their little 6 year old girl to a ballgame for a night of fun and excitement. Nothing appeared out of the normal and apparently the family enjoyed their night at the game. After the game the family returned home and everyone went to bed. Around 11 pm the parents of this little 6 year old girl checked on her and she was sound asleep in her

6 year old Isabel Celis was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona last Friday night on April 20, 2012. If you have seen her call the FBI, local police, or Tucson Police IMMEDIATELY!

room. Again nothing appeared out of the ordinary. The parents went to bed and the next morning the girl’s mother, a nurse, got up and went off to work early in the morning as she normally did at Tucson Medical Center. Around 8 am Saturday morning the father went to wake his little girl up and discovered that she was missing from her bed. Horrified the family apparently began to search for the little girl and after 15 minutes of not being able to find her the father called police to report her missing. Police swarmed the area searching for the little girl but to no avail. A screen was discovered having been removed from the little girl’s room and reportedly the bedroom window was open. Had she climbed through the window and disappeared? Had some predator come into the little girl’s room through that window? Horror sat in as the parents, police, and the community realized the little girl was nowhere to be found.

The little 6 year old girl who has now been missing for about a week is named Isabel Calis and police are continuing their search for her. Yesterday sheriff officers searched a nearby lake but nothing was found. Police have conducted house to house searches several times and area sex offenders have been interviewed. But no clues have turned up as to what happened sometime during the night when Isabel turned up missing.

The house where Isabel is missing from is near a shopping mall and several businesses that have outdoor security cameras. Police are searching through recordings on those security cameras looking for any clues as to what might have happened. One camera is atop a security company building and that camera is a infrared camera which means it can see at night clearly. That camera is aimed towards the home where Isabel came up missing. Police are being tight lipped about the incident but apparently nothing is seen on the video from that camera. The next door neighbor has told police that last Saturday morning around 630 am her dogs and the Celis family dogs were barking wildly and she heard male voices talking outside her window. The neighbor’s bedroom is just across a brick wall from the bedroom where Isabel came up missing. The neighbor thought nothing about it and returned to sleep. She now wishes she would have gotten up and looked out of the window.

Little 6 year old Isabel Celis has disappeared apparently without a clue and police seem to be at a dead-end. US Marshal’s and the FBI have helped in the search over the past week and a special behavioral analysis team from the FBI has now been brought into the case. Earlier this week FBI brought two specially trained dogs into the home. One was a scent dog and the other a cadaver dog. The cadaver dog is trained to sniff out signs of dead human bodies and the dog did hit on something inside the home that police believed was significant. The family was removed from the home so police detectives could look for any clues of what happened. The city landfill was searched as well. Again nothing has been found and Isabel is still missing. The Rojas Case: Murdered by US Border Patrol Agents?

Before I begin this report let me be clear. I understand what US Border Patrol agents are up against every day. I understand the dangers involved as they carry out their jobs encountering drug traffickers and human smugglers. The dangers are very real and, as in the case of US Border Agent Brian Terry, sometimes very deadly. It is certainly not a job I would want and I respect these agents for the work they do in trying to prevent human smuggling and drug trafficking. For the most part the majority of US Border Patrol agents are good men and women doing their difficult job with professionalism. However, there are a few bad apples as there are in any organization, law enforcement or not. In the case of such bad apples they are the agents who need to be identified and weeded out of the agency. Sadly, this has not been the case when it comes to the public murder of Mexican national Anastacio Hernandez-Rojas.

Anastacio Hernandez-Rojas

Rojas was killed in May of 2010 at the US border entry in San Diego by US Border Patrol agents. The weapon of choice was a taser. Rojas was tasered five times by an agent. Rojas began convulsing from the taser strikes and stopped breathing. One agent clearly had his leg on Rojas’ throat near the end of the incident. Officers at the time claimed Rojas was on methamphetamines but a corners report identified the amount as small. Officers also claimed that Rojas was resisting but video shot of the entire incident on that night suggests Rojas was not resisting at all. Agents first claimed Rojas was not in handcuffs but later admitted he was handcuffed during the tasering. The San Diego County Corner ruled the death a homicide but none of the agents were charged with murder. The entire affair took place at the border entry where agents have driven Rojas in order to deport him back to Mexico. The tasering was witnessed by numerous people who filmed the incident on their cell phones and some of those people who saw the incident told agents to stop tasering him because he was not resisting. Agents did not stop tasering Rojas and agents demanded witnesses on the catwalk keep walking. At least one couple had their cell phone confiscated by agents because they had filmed the incident and others were told by agents to erase what they had filmed which is clearly illegal.

A new witness has come forward from Seattle, Washington who was on the catwalk that night and she filmed the entire incident. She says she feared for her own life and that’s why she has not come forward until now. She says the guilt got to her because she feels like she “witnessed a murder” that night on the US-Mexico border in San Diego. PBS has obtained that video and it is included in a new report in their series “Need to Know.” You can watch the report at the PBS link below.

In the past two years eight people have been killed on the border excluding drug and human smugglers. All of these incidents involved US Border Patrol agents and the possibility that they used excessive force in carrying out their duties. The US Department of Justice has done little about these instances and the killing of Rojas raises questions about US Border Patrol accountability. The USBP is part of the US Department of Homeland Security and as such they are NOT subject to the same public scrutiny as are regular police officers in the US who use their weapons to kill a suspect. The biggest question of all concerning the eight cases over the past two years including the Rojas case is why are these cases not being prosecuted by the DOJ?

In the Rojas case it was investigated by the San Diego Police Department and the corner ruled his death a “homicide.” However, none of the dozen or so agents at the scene that night have been arrested and charged with murder. At the time of the killing in May 2010 the incident was only briefly reported by the US media. In Mexico the killing became a big story and people were outraged over it. Since that time it’s all been going away, however. That is until now. Now that a new video recording has been brought forward by the witness from Seattle and this video is causing outrage to grow on both sides of the border once again. Continue reading

Spanish King Goes on Safari While People Do Without!!

King Juan Carlos went on a Safari this past week and now the people of Spain are outraged for a few reasons.  First of all he left without telling the Prime Minister he was going to Botswana in Africa.  The Spanish PM has the legal right to know where the king is at all times especially if he leaves the country.  Another reason Spaniards are upset is that Spain’s economy has failed and what the king spent on this Safari (about $60K) is more than many Spaniards earn in a year working.  Spain is demanding austerity from its people but the royal family seems to be exempt from it all.

HRH King Juan Carlos of Spain

The king was also insured during the trip from a fall where he was staying.  He was flown back to Spain and had to undergo a hip replacement.  The king is 74 years old.  His past hunting trips have caused controversy so this is not the first time. What angers Spaniards most about this trip is the cost during a time when the average Spaniard is having to do without.  But that is the way of all royals isn’t it?  What is good for the people is not good for the elite?  The people should pay the price of austerity but the elite should not!

This is just one more disgusting display by global elites.  Nothing stops their desires.  Nothing!  They believe they are better and above the common man and woman but they aren’t.  Frankly, I’ve always admired King Juan Carlos but this has put a black mark on him in my mind.  He and the royals ought to be sacrificing just as the common people are instead of throwing a blatant show of conspicuous wealth in their faces.  Further, this is one more example of disconnect between global leaders and the common man and woman.  We see this same disconnect in the US.  Our leaders are no longer in touch with the common people.  They can no longer identify with them or their daily plight.  Look at how Obama bounces around the globe on flamboyant vacations in a time when many Americans have no jobs and vacation is out of the question.  The display is disgusting!

In the case of King Juan Carlos since he obviously has money to burn maybe he should give some Spaniard in the streets $60K.  Maybe he should make a real effort to help his people and reconnect with them.  Maybe he should apologize.  Maybe, as one member of parliament is demanding now, he should just abdicate and go enjoy his life while the rest of the Spanish people continue to suffer more and more every day!  Leaders?  I don’t think so.  These people are overlords NOT leaders and they are ruling in every nation on earth today!  Real leaders identify and connect to their people.  A REAL LEADER would not have gone on the hunting trip but would be sacrificing with his people.  In times long ago the king was usually the poorest man in the country.  Why?  Because he was busy using his money and resources to help his people.  Do you see any leaders or kings doing that today?  Of course not because we don’t have any more real leaders now.  All we have is flamboyant self indulging elites who DON’T give one damn about the common people on this planet.  It’s time for CHANGE.  REAL CHANGE!  It’s time to start putting in REAL LEADERS in every nation and getting rid of these self-serving elites!

BTW maybe the King got hurt because EL DIOS was trying to tell him something.  You think??????

The America that Used to be….

A friend sent me this site with old restored old photos from WW2 America.  I thought they were interesting as they show the America that USED to be.  During the war resources were short and people sacrificed and did without.  When the men went to war women pitched in and started building the planes and bombs.  How would it be today?  Would we sacrifice and do without?  Would we all chip in and our part for the war effort?  Doubtful.

Obama Gives Hispanics MORE False Hopes!

Obama is clearly in re-election mode and this weekend while he’s at the Americas Summit in Columbia he’s using that opportunity to try to get Hispanic votes again.  In an interview yesterday Obama promised to tackle immigration reform in the first year of his second term if re-elected.  However, Obama said in order to make reform happen he’d need a Congress that would work on the issue with him.  Obama sais he cared deeply about the issue and that “It’s personal to me.”

Obama also went after his apparent challenger Mitt Romney calling him an extremist on immigration and pointing out that Romney supports laws that could possibly allow people to be stopped by police and asked for citizenship papers if they assumed someone might be an illegal.  Obama went on to say that he thinks immigration reform has to be an important debate across the country.  Romney does support laws that would require employers to verify legal status.

In response to Obama’s comments yesterday a spokesman for Romney told reporters, “President Obama only talks about immigration reform when he’s seeking votes.  Then candidate Obama promised to tackle immigration reform in his first year.  More than three years into his term, America is still waiting for his immigration plan.”  In 2008 Obama won much of the Hispanic vote and he’s hoping for that again in November.  Obama made his comments during a televised interview on Univision.

Now as the Romney spokesperson pointed out we’ve heard all this before from Obama.  In 2008 he said he’d tackle immigration reform in his first year in office.  During that first year he had a Democrat dominated House and Senate led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  He had a cooperative Congress that did just about anything Obama wanted.  Yet, Obama FAILED to tackle immigration reform and now he’s making the same promise again.  This president must think the Hispanic people are STIPIDO (stupid).

As a Hispanic person the subject of immigration reform is very important to me as well and what I’d like to know why Obama didn’t do what he promised in 2008 and tackle the issue in his first term when he had the Democrat controlled Congress back then.  He didn’t and now Hispanics are hearing the same thing from him again as he promised that he’ll undertake the issue in the first year of his second term IF re-elected.  I don’t think he will.  I think his comments are only for the purposes of gaining the Hispanic vote because what Obama cares about most is his getting re-elected.  I say he must think that we Hispanic people are really stupid because he obviously thinks we are going to fall for his empty promises again in November but Barack Obama has made a BIG mistake because:

THE HISPANIC PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID PEOPLE!!

Frankly, I’m tired of Obama insulting my intelligence as a Hispanic man and you should be too.  Obama had his chance to tackle immigration reform back in 2008 with the Democrat Congress but he did nothing.  He got the Hispanic vote and then he forgot all about Hispanics and immigration reform.  Now he is playing us like we are stipido!  The fact that he is dishing out the same empty promise proves that.  Obama fails to realize that we Hispanics are not ignorant people and the ONLY thing he’s concerned about is getting re-elected.  He does not care about ANY Hispanic issue in fact!

I get really tired and pissed off when people play me for a fool and especially when they do it because they think I’m an ignorant Hispanic.  Obama has now come to that point with me!  This president is a LIAR!  There is no other word to characterize him with.  He consistently makes promises and then does either nothing or just the opposite.  He is a DISHONORABLE man and leader because he speaks out of BOTH sides of his mouth.  Where does he get off thinking we are some kind of Bananera Republica and he’s the El Dictator?  This is exactly the thinking that Latin American dictators have.  They think their people are ignorant and in some cases they are but not as ignorant as they assume.  Obama thinks he can just say anything and people will fall for it but ACTION speaks far louder than words to me.  When it comes to Hispanic issues I see NO action from this president of any significance.

The Hispanic population is the fastest growing segment in the United States today.  The Hispanic vote is becoming a powerhouse.  If Barack Obama thinks we are all idiots then I’ve got news for him.  WE’RE NOT!  We are not a bunch of ignorant peasants that are easily manipulated by political rhetoric and lies!  Obama had his opportunity to tackle immigration reform and HE FAILED.  I don’t really like Romney but I will not support a president who obviously thinks he can play my people like a fiddle and treat us like dogs otherwise!  And I think that is exactly what he does.  He throws out his fancy words and big promises and then does nothing and comes up for re-election and throws out the same lies again.  This man, Obama, does NOT deserve the Hispanic vote this time around as he’s clearly demonstrated Hispanic issues are NOT really important to him.

Across this country we have an ongoing and increasing problem with parents being deported but their children being allowed to stay in the US because they were born here.  What this is is a breakup of Hispanic families and breaking up ANY family is never good for anyone.  And it’s not the answer either!  This problem needs to be addressed and ignoring it is not working.  It is an issue that needs to be resolved.  Obama has nothing to offer we Hispanics except lip service on the matter.  That’s NOT leadership!  He is playing Hispanics like we are idiots so he can get another four years in office and that’s all he is doing!  Once he gets those four more years Hispanics will be put back in the background and our issues will once again be unimportant to him.  This president does NOT deserve to be re-elected and he most certainly does NOT deserve the Hispanic vote again!

As for Mitt Romney and his stance on supporting laws that could have police pull you over simply because they suspect you MIGHT be here illegally, does that mean anyone or just Hispanics?  People don’t seem to realize that there are plenty of NON-Hispanics in this country illegally too.  We don’t hear much about them because the media is focused on Hispanic illegals but they are here too.  So if you drive by a cop on the highway and he notices that you are Hispanic that gives him the right to stop you and demand your citizenship papers?  And what about American born Hispanics?  The same applies?  Our police will be spending all of their time pulling us over and checking our papers and, meanwhile, what will they be doing about REAL CRIME?  Police could potentially pull people over all day long and check their papers.  And what papers?  Our driver’s licenses because I don’t carry my birth certificate around and I’m NOT going to.  And wouldn’t it be discrimination by singling us out?  So Romney supports police stopping people based on their skin color?  That’s just as ignorant as Obama lying to us again about immigration reform.  Both of these men seem to think Hispanics are really ignorant people.  WRONG!!

I want to see action and progress.  I don’t want to hear a bunch of lies and political rhetoric.  Actions speak louder than words and when it comes to significant action Obama has nothing.  Don’t think that he or Romney simply think Hispanics are ignorant people because they seem to think everyone else in America is ignorant too.  Americans need REAL leaders and so far I’m not seeing any.  What I am seeing is a bunch of losers playing us for stupid and lying to us every time they open their rotten mouths!  It’s time the Hispanic people, and all others, stop falling for the stupidity of the politicians.  To Hispanic people dignity is very important and there is no bigger insult to us than when someone tries to attack our dignity.  That’s what Obama’s lies to us are doing.  Destroying our dignity.  Every Hispanic person in this nation should now be insulted by Barack Obama after his comments made in Colombia yesterday.  He’s playing us for stupid AGAIN!

I must be honest with all of you.  I look at Obama and Romney trying to decide which one I support and will vote for and honestly I don’t like or want either of them.  Why do we only get two choices in this country?  I don’t want to cast my vote for the “lesser of two losers.”  I want to cast my vote for LEADERS!  Real leaders!  People who I can believe in and whose actions will match their words.  I’m thinking I might vote for the Receptor de Perro!  DOG CATCHER!!  The two choices disgust me frankly and I don’t want to vote for Romney or Obama.

America can ignore the immigration reform problem and it is just going to keep getting bigger.  It’s NOT going to just magically go away.  At some point we are going to have to deal with it and reform it.  Until we actually do that then all we are going to get is more empty promises and more lies and the Hispanic people will continue to be played for being ignorant fools.  That’s what these politicians have been doing and are still doing and I’m sick of the INSULT and every Hispanic person should feel the same.  WE ARE NOT A IGNORANT OR FOOLISH PEOPLE!!  I am absolutely disgusted by Obama’s remarks on Univsion yesterday and I’m disgusted with Romney wanting everyone stopped by police to have their papers checked.  Romney seems to think this is Nazi Germany because that’s what they did there.  Obama thinks this is a Bananera Republica.  Do either of these men realize they are in America?  I guess not.

Latin American Summit Begins! Molina to push for drug legalization!

El Presidente de la Republica Bananera de los Estados Unidos Barack Obama [meaning the President of the Banana Republic of the US] has arrived in Columbia for this weekends Americas Summit in which he will meet with Latin American leaders.  One of the big issues is the failed war on drugs as Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina stated earlier this week and his solution is to legalize drugs in order to stop the drug cartels.  El Presidente Obama is NOT receptive to that suggestion, however.  Another big issue is Cuba and earlier this week Obama told Latin American reporters that Cuba has shown no interest in changing its relationship with the US nor have they shown a willingness to respect human rights or the democratic system.  It seems Obama is attending the summit with some hardline positions.

The failed war on drugs and Cuba are expected to dominate most of the discussions at the summit and both issue increasingly reflect the American governments disconnect with more assertive and independent Latin American nations under the leadership of the growing powerhouse Brazil.  Other issue to be discussed at the summit are reducing poverty, regional integration, reducing inequality, increasing access to technology, and combating transnational crime.

President Molina and others are planning to push decriminalization of drugs over the weekend at the summit.  Obama has responded by saying the issue reflects the frustrations of Latin American governments and people.  However, he said, legalizing drugs would have negative consequences in all countries in terms of public health and safety.  He added that legalizing drugs would NOT eliminate the dangers posed by the drug cartels and other organized crime groups.  In speaking about Cuba, President Obama said, “History shows that the yearning for human freedom and dignity cannot be denied forever.  No authoritarian regime lasts forever.”

Something that Obama might get an ear full on is America’s neglect of Latin America in general.  Latin American leaders are wanting a more equal partnership with the US.  Obama, apparently, feels that more balanced partnership already exists as he told reporters this past week that Latin America and the US have more shared interests and common heritage than any other group of nations in the world.  That is true, however, it does nothing for balancing the relationship with Latin American nations who have historically been dictated to by the US.

Brazil is becoming a powerful economic leader in Latin America and it is exerting its influence on all other Latin American nations pushing for calls that the relationship between themselves and the US be transformed into a more equal one.  Further, only Canada and the US oppose Cuba being part of the summit.  Latin American leaders have no problem with Cuba but they are never invited to the summit of the Americas.  Obama is going to hear a lot of protest this weekend from Latin American leaders who want Cuba involved and most likely they will be in the next summit meeting whether Washington and Ottawa like it or not.

Latin American nations have suffered greatly in terms of human lives and economics when it comes to the war on drugs which is going nowhere.  Latin America leaders are frustrated and angry and they want other options to be considered on how to best resolve the drug running problems they face.  Sadly, America is not providing leadership and President Obama seems content with the status quo even though it’s not working.  But, this is an election year for Obama and he doesn’t want any controversy.  Legalizing drugs would be a major target for his opponents like Mitt Romney the GOP frontrunner.  That being said, one thing is clear.  We are going to have to start looking at other options when it comes to the war on drugs because what we are doing right now is not working.  Drug production and trafficking are up higher than ever before and so is global drug use.  What is at issue with Latin American nations is what it is costing them in terms of money and human lives.  The drug cartels are posing major threats to national governments and stability throughout Latin America.  I pretty much think things are coming to the point in which Latin American leaders are going to reject being dictated to by the US on this and other important matters. They are already putting forth the message that if the US wants continued influence in Latin America then the relationship is going to have to start working on more equal terms as real partners and not as it is now and has been for decades which is like an autocrat ruling over many vassal states.  Latin America is NOT the collective vassal state of the US or Canada!

President Obama has obviously gone to the summit with a hardliner attitude but after hearing what Latin American leaders like Molina and others have to say Obama may be coming home with an entirely different attitude.  Latin America and the Hispanic people are NOT going to be dictated to anymore and that is also becoming very clear.  Legalizing drugs may or may not be the best answer to the problem but discussion on the issue must begin somewhere because the war on drugs is one huge FAILURE!  And when it comes to Cuba, keeping them on the outs is not going over well with Latin American governments or the Hispanic people.  Cuba is a part of Latin America like it or not and Cuba should have a place at the summit just as Chavez’s Venezuela does.  Mr. Obama or whoever replaces him in November may be in for a big surprise come the next summit when they see Cuba with a place at the Latin American table.  Like I said.  Hispanics are tired of being dictated to by the Republica Bananeras!  A people and a nation have the God-given right to chart their own course even if others do not agree with that course.  Self determination is a value and Latin American are catching onto that value.
